Cicero Rufus "Rufe" Perry, a veteran of the San Jacinto campaign, joined the Texas Rangers in July of 1836 and served with them for the next forty years. In 1876, Eli Clements Hankins (1855-1925) married Ida J. Perry (1860-1931), daughter of Asa H. Perry (1827-1863) and Harriet W. Odom (1837-1893) and sister of Maggie I. Roberts.
